Les Larmes d'Lange (2014)

Listen to the piece

  • Instrumentation: Flute, cello, piano.

  • Description: This piece is very Debussy-esque, with flowing melodies and a large key change halfway through from six flats to four sharps, and back again. The piano is the basis to keep the other instruments together, with several rolled 7 chords. This was also the first piece I had professionally recorded—I wrote it at a summer composition camp at Illinois Wesleyan and it changed almost every other piece of music I have written since. The title is French for “Tears of an angel", and the piece is performed by members of the faculty at Illinois Wesleyan.
