• Description: This was my very first college composition, based off Ravel’s Menuet Antique, composed in 1895. It has a simple ABA form; the A section has tense-resolution moments, with lots of key changes and some aural imagery like a gentle toll of a clock tower at bars 13-14 and 19-20 (and again later when the A section repeats, of course), The B section is very Neoclassical, with a relaxed melody that flows through the piano to a rising climactic moment, which is in the subdominant. The piece ends with the A section once more.
